Remembering Dr APJ Abdul Kalam: Tributes pour in on social media for ‘people’s President’ on his 5th death anniversary

5 years ago, his sudden death sent the entire nation into grief but Dr APJ Abdul Kalam – India’s first people’s president – continues to be an inspiration for all of us even today thanks to his immense contribution in the field of aeronautics.

Born and raised in the town of Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, his full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.

“On his 5th death anniversary, my tributes to the Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. A great teacher & role model for all of us.His teachings & vision will continue to inspire us,” Manish Sisodia said on Twitter.

Taking to Twitter, Vice-President wrote, “My humble tributes to former President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary today. He was an outstanding scientist, a great human being and a ‘People’s President’, who inspired the people of the country, particularly the youth through his actions & words.”

On 27 July 2015, Kalam died at the age of 83 from an apparent cardiac arrest. His funeral ceremony was held in his hometown, where he was buried with full state honours.
