Indian Railways generates OVER 5.5 LAKH man-days of work under Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan

Indian Railways has generated over 5.5 lakh mandays of work in six states (Bihar, Jharkhand, MP, Odisha, Rajasthan and UP) amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the national transporter said.

Under the central infrastructure creation-cum-livelihood generation scheme ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan’, the government aims to provide livelihood opportunities to migrant workers who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is to be noted that PM had announced that an amount of Rs 50,000 crore would be spent for building durable rural infrastructure under the scheme.

The railways has appointed nodal officers in each district as well as in the states to establish a close coordination with the state governments.
