The Indian government will be sending relief and humanitarian supplies to Lebanon as the country deals with the aftermath of the horrific Beirut blast that claimed the lives of over 200 people so far.
India’s envoy to United Nations TS Tirumurti said, “India has just recently sent Lebanon essential medical items to combat COVID-19. We’re immediately sending more relief and humanitarian material of medicines, foodstuff and other essential items to do whatever we can to alleviate the difficulties on the ground.”
“I’d like to express our solidarity with Lebanon at this juncture,” he added.
India has had traditionally close relations with Lebanon, including through Indian peacekeepers in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.
