BelYo: Here’s all you need to know about India’s first COVID-19 blockchain platform

In a major development, Global blockchain start-up BelfricsBT, along with YoSync, has signed a research collaboration with IIIT Bangalore to develop India’s first COVID-19 blockchain platform, BelYo.

The project has been funded by the Mphasis F1 Foundation, CNBC-TV18 reported.

Sources revealed that BelYo relies on the BelfricsBT Belrium blockchain platform in order to convert COVID-19 related clinical and vaccination data into digital assets that can be retrieved by any contact tracing apps such as Aarogya Setu via APIs.

Using these APIs, an individual can even scan and retrieve data as colour-coded results through a QR code, making the process 100 per cent contactless, the venture claimed.

According to the news report, over 90% of Indians have their medical records only in the physical form. However, the ongoing crisis has underlined the need to digitise medical records for future use.

Currently, the platform is being tested in a few clinics. The platform aims to reach out to over 700 government labs and about 270 private labs starting August second week.
